Greek food specialties

Have you heard about Bougiourdi, Loukoumades, Kreatosoupa ?  All are Greeks food specialties I discovered in Greece and I really like. I want to share those with you.

Mussels Saganaki

I discovered this recipe at Thessaloniki Market in a little restaurant which served this delicious dish with fresh mussels stewed in light mustard soup.

Bougiourdi

It is a spicy dish cooked with feta cheese, octopus, tomatoes and spices, served with bread it's delicious!

Kreatosoupa

Serve with bread, this beef soup with kind of wheat seeds and vegetables is ideal for a light and nutritional dinner.

Pita and Gyros

Of course, in Greece you can't miss the Gyros meat and its famous pita sandwich. An all in one sandwich with - Gyros - vegetables - fried potatoes with grilled pita. A definitely hearty meal!

Stuffed Octopus

This dish surprised me a lot. In Greece, you've got traditional stuffed tomatoes or green pepper. And you can also find stuffed octopus!! It's fried outside and stuffed with rice and vegetables, one of my favorite!

Grilled dish

The mediterranean food are known for all its grilled meat and fish. In Greece, it's grilled meat everywhere, so enjoy it, it really worth it.

Loukoumades

The sweets of Olympic champions! The Loukoumades one of the oldest Greeks dessert. You can read more about it in my recent post here.

Galaktoboureko

One of those famous Greek dessert is Galaktoboureko made with cheese and honey, an highly caloric dessert but only in Greece
