Back to the Varvakios Central Market, along a popular pedestral alley, here are Krinos cafe, in a traditional beautiful old building of Athens with columns, a place where the time went far before you were born, in the 20's one hundred years ago ! When you enter, you'll see a big rooms, with little white marble tables and vintage wooden chairs, a minimalist decoration on wall and ceiling fans. In the back a kitchen with few waiters who will waiting for your order. Nobody will inform you that you have to go there to order, because every Athens citizens know!

One plate, 6 loukoumades. But what is exactly a loukoumade ? A deep fried dough ball dipped in honey syrup. It is considered to be the oldest recorded dessert in the world. In ancient Greece, these deep fried dough balls were served to the winners of the Greek Olympics. They also had this dessert in ancient Persia and Egypt. In Ancient Greece, those sweet balls were prepared from fermented dough that was spiced with cinnamon. And thanks to Krinos, you can really have a back to basics flavor experience. For all fans of doughnuts, I highly recommend this place, one of the motherland of doughnuts !
